Public Sector Reform Unit inducts newly recruited staff

The Public Sector Reform Unit, PSRU, on Tuesday commenced a two-day induction session for newly recruited staff at their conference room on Wesley Street in Freetown.

The purpose of this induction was to appraised the newly recruited staff about the mandate, mission and vision of PSRU for them to understand the mode of operations of the organization to aide their daily tasks. The induction also serves a refresher training for the old employees, reminding them of their roles and responsibilities.
Welcoming the newly recruited staff through a zoom meeting from London, the Director of PSRU, Mr. Sulaiman Phoray-Musa, informed the newly recruited staff that they are joining a dedicated and committed crop of Sierra Leoneans that have demonstrated commitment in actualising the aspirations and goals of the organization.
He encouraged them that they are coming to a conducive environment that pride itself in work ethics where they have the opportunity to benefit immensely in strengthening their capacity as PSRU is blessed with rich human resource.
In his opening remarks, the Chief of Programmes, Mr. Albert Williams emphasized the importance of the induction, informing them that the first day session will focus on the overview of the institution, giving a broader picture of what PSRU is doing. While the second day will concentrate on the detailed activities and programmes of each of the five units in the institutions as Heads of Units will presents their functions, work plan and achievements within the first half of the year.

The Head of Cooperate Services, Ms. Renisa Beckley gave a historical background of the institution since it was established 20 years ago through a Presidential declaration as the Governance Reform Secretariat with support from donor partners. In 2008 the institution was renamed the Public Sector Reform Unit and has remained so till date.
She briefly informed about the roles and functions of the five distinct units in the institution but hastened to tell them that these units are not mutually exclusive but rather working in harmony to achieve the overall objective of the organization. She added that they will learn more about the roles and functions of the five respective units when the various Heads will be doing their presentations.
The Head of Corporate took them through the dos and donts of the organization and should strictly abide by the reporting lines.
