The Minister of Public Administration and Political Affairs, Mr. Amara Kallon, has led a high powered Sierra Leonean delegation to the 43rd Association of African Public Administration and Management Round Table Conference and Annual General Meeting in Kampala, Uganda.
The conference was held at Speke Hotel Munyonyo from 26th to 29th November, 2024 to critically analyze and brainstorm on how to transform the public service in line with modern trends.
The conference, themed, “Agile and Resilient Public Administration Framework for Sustainable Development in Africa,” aims to challenge public and civil servants to rethink traditional governance frameworks by advocating for the development of systems that are not only responsive to immediate crises but also adaptable to future uncertainties.
It is also geared towards building exceptional and robust administrative structures and capabilities that can sustain developmental momentum and harness innovations to meet the diverse needs of Africa’s growing population in the 21st century.
Mr Amara Kallon led several sessions and engages in multiple bilateral meetings with his counterparts with the view of modernizing and reforming Sierra Leone’s public sector.
The Sierra Leone delegation were received by the Minister Plenipotentiary and Charge’ d’Affaires of the Sierra Leone High Commission to Kenya Mr. Abdul Karim Kargbo.
The Sierra Leone delegation includes the Chairman, Public Service Commission, Mr. K.O. Bah, Secretary to the Cabinet and Head of the Civil Service Mr. John Sumailah, the Secretary to the Vice President, Mr. Barba Fortune, the Director General Human Resource Management Office, HRMO, Mr. Ansu Tucker, and the Director of Public Sector Reform Unit, PSRU, Mr. Sulaiman Phoray-Musa,
