Public Sector Reform Unit Hands Over Office Equipment Worth Thousands of Dollars to PSC And HRMO

The Director of Public Sector Reform Unit, PSRU, Ms Sidratu Koroma, has handed over office equipment worth over US$ 60,000 to the Public Service Commission (PSC) and the Human Resources Management Office (HRMO) to strengthen their capacity to implementing the pay and performance project as part of the Technical Assistance component.

The equipments according to the Director are geared towards providing support to these critical agencies, that are vital in the civil service reform to enable them perform their enormous duties in achieving the over-arching goal of the over-all public sector reform.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Public Service Commission, the Executive Secretary, Mr. Desmond Forde, expressed appreciation for the support, stating that it will enable the PSC achieving their objectives consistent with the objectives of the Pay and Performance Project and that of the over-all Public Sector Reform.

As part of its strategy to ensure impactful reforms, the PSRU extracted from the national public sector programme, a “Quick Wins” agenda, focusing on three components, namely: Pay Reforms; Recruitment and Staffing and Performance Management.

The GOSL and the World Bank reached a consensus on an innovative approach to enhance Public Sector Reform, using a development-financing instrument that formally links disbursements to the achievement of results.

The project which is managed and coordinated by the PSRU, is a joint effort between multiple institutions within Government, including the PSC, HRMO, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and other MDA’s.

Among the equipments are printers, desk top and lap top computers.
